A new Ogilvy report has surfaced explaining the differences between Tier 1 and Tier 3 residents. While the report focused on advertising, its findings could have some interesting implications for headhunters and those working in HR.
Here’s why:
Do you want to lure someone from a Tier 1 city to work for you in a Tier 3 city?
Ain’t gonna happen easily.
Of Tier 1 residents, 53.6 percent said they are satisfied with their lives, compared to only 46.9 percent of Tier 3 citizens.
Are you about to hire someone for an intense job, but wonder if your company would be their priority?
Well, if that someone lives in a Tier 3 city, you should have a lot less worry than if they live in Beijing or Shanghai.
“Family is more important than career for me,” according to 76.2 percent of Tier 1 city slickers, compared to 67.5 percent of Tier 3 residents.
Looking for someone who is not afraid to take risks?
Go ahead and look anywhere.
You’ll find 37.7 percent of the Tier 1 population takes risks, and so does 37.8 percent of Tier 3.
Who is going to walk out on you the moment they get a better job offer?
Hard to say, but of Tier 1, 38.3 percent of people say they’re ambitious, while 34.4 percent indicate as much in Tier 3.
You might find a few more creative people in Tier 1 cities.
In Tier 1, 59.1 percent of people say they “enjoy trying new things,” while 53.5 percent do in Tier 3.
And who’s most likely to succumb to food poisoning on the job?
That would be the Tier 1 folks, since 82.4 percent said they visited a fast food restaurant in the last 12 months, while just 60.1 percent did in Tier 3.
